Diseases and Disorders!
Since the circulatory system is such a vital system in the human body, it is extremely important that you keep you heart and overall body healthy and functioning properly. If you don't it can lead to serious diseases and disorders, some which are not curable.
Two of the most widely known are atherosclerosis and hypertension. However, there are many other diseases and problems that can affect the function of the circulatory system.
First, Atherosclerosis is a common disorder. It is when the arteries harden due to build up of cholesterol, fat, and other substances in the arteries forming hard plaques. Over time, they become larger and thicker causing blood flow to be more and more difficult. This leads to tissues and organs not getting enough blood and oxygen. Eventually, this can lead to heart attacks, aneurysms, strokes, and pulmonary embolisms (clot that reaches the lungs). Since symptoms don't show up until the blockage is quite serious, it is hard to catch early. Symptoms include chest pain, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, and other symptoms depending on which tissue is cut off. The best treatment is to lead a relatively healthy life. Don't smoke, eat healthy, exercise, and get your cholesterol levels checked often. If a doctor does catch it, they may put you on medicine to lower your cholesterol levels. The best way to avoid this problem is to be healthy!

The second disease is hypertension. Hypertension means the disorder concerning high blood pressure. Hypertension is caused by numerous factors. If you are obese, stressed too much, eat a lot of salt, or have a history of high blood pressure, you are more likely to have hypertension. It can also be caused by pregnancy, medications, and chronic kidney disease. High blood pressure is causes blood vessels to become narrower and stiffer. Normally, there is not any one reason why a patient gets high blood pressure. Although hypertension can be very serious, there aren't any common symptoms. However, hypertension can lead to stroke, heart attacks, kidney disease, and other life threatening effects. To treat high blood pressure, lifestyle changes are necessary. You must exercise, eat healthy, reduce alcohol consumption, and quit smoking if you do. There are also many medications that can lower your blood pressure. The most important thing to remember to maintain a healthy circulatory system is to lead a healthy lifestyle!
